Inducible expression of antitoxin RelB by pBAD

This construct is composed of L-arabinose mediated inducible promoter pBAD and antitoxin RelB of RelB/RelE toxin-antitoxin system. RelB/RelE is a type II toxin-antitoxin system originating from E. coli. This construct can be used to characterize the antagonistic effect of RelB when combining with RelE expression constructs. It can also be used as a biocontainment component. Because when bacteria escape to the natural environment without the inducers the antitoxin gene is repressed.
